Lincolnton woman charged with embezzlement from Denver, NC, company

Authorities on Tuesday arrested and charged a Lincolnton woman in the embezzlement of $196,885 from a Denver, N.C., business over seven years.

Crystal Franklin Burgess Wilson, 45, was charged with embezzlement greater than $100,000. She is free on a $25,000 bail.

On Jan. 20, an official with S and L Saw Mill filed a report with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office regarding money stolen from the company.

Sheriff’s investigators said they were given copies of 179 checks written on the company’s account to Wilson between 2008 and 2014. She was fired in November, investigators said.
