Pedestrian dies after east Charlotte hit-and-run

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help in finding this silver car that drove away after hitting a pedestrian at Albemarle Road and Lawyers Road on Saturday. The car has noticeable damage to the right side of the windshield and possibly to the hood and roof, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a pedestrian injured by a hit-and-run Saturday in east Charlotte has died.

Khalid Perry, 21, was pronounced dead from his injuries Saturday at Carolinas Medical Center, police said Sunday. Perry had been taken to the hospital after officers responded to the crash at the intersection of Albemarle Road and Lawyers Road at about 2:15 a.m.

Police said Sunday they continue seeking the public’s assistance in finding the vehicle involved in the incident. The only description police have is of a silver car with noticeable damage to the right side of the windshield and possibly to the hood and roof.

The car was last seen going outbound on Albemarle Road from Lawyers Road, according to police.
