Officials charge 4 suspects in killing of man outside Monroe hotel

Officials are still investigating the motive of four individuals charged with murdering a man outside of a Monroe hotel on Tuesday, July 26.

When officers responded to Relax Inn at West Roosevelt Boulevard in reference to a shooting, they found Danny McGriff, 39, of Lancaster, SC dead on the walkway from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Monroe Police Department detectives and special agents of the State Bureau of Investigation arrested four suspects on Thursday, July 28: Jarvis Miller, 27, Robert Hood, 27, Charles Hunt, 21 and Demetress Bennett, 23. All suspects are from Monroe except Bennett, who lives in Wadesboro.

They were charged with first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery. Miller was also charged with possession of a firearm by felon. They are all currently being held under no bond in the Union County Jail.
