Authorities search for Mooresville area attacker wearing a full-face helmet

Iredell County sheriff’s investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who had a full-face helmet on when he assaulted a Mooresville-area resident at the resident’s mailbox and robbed the victim at knife point of his wallet.

The attack happened at 6:15 a.m. Thursday on Hobbs Lane, off N.C. 115 just south of the Mount Mourne Volunteer Fire Department.

The resident had just gotten to his mailbox when he was approached by a white-helmeted man between 18 and 25 years old in all-black clothing, Sheriff Darren Campbell said Friday.

The assailant displayed a knife and demanded money, the sheriff said. The robber took the wallet and then the two fought.

The robber ran into woods, where investigators believe he had a four-wheeler waiting. He is believed to have driven toward nearby Midway Lake Road.

Anyone with information about the assault and robbery is asked to call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office at 704-878-3180.
