1 seriously injured in east Charlotte shooting

One person was shot and seriously injured following a shooting on North Sharon Amity Road Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. near where Sharon Amity Road meets East WT Harris Boulevard. Paramedics said the victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police haven’t said what they believe led up to the shooting and investigators haven’t released a name or a description of a suspect.

Police officers and crime scene investigators were at the scene of the shooting, looking at a blue Ford Taurus that had at least six bullet holes in its driver’s side. Next to the car, they inspected a bag that had a man’s clothes and shoes in it.

Traffic was backed up as officers tried to get cars around the crime scene, which was in the westbound lane of North Sharon Amity Road.

Police encourage anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters are eligible for rewards for information that leads to an arrest.
