Authorities captured a Puerto Rico homicide suspect in a Gaston County apartment on Thursday.
U.S. marshals and Gaston County police forced their way into the apartment after suspect Felix Perez-Ruiz refused their commands to come out. The apartment is in the 2000 block of Fallsdale Drive, off Chapel Grove Road southwest of Gastonia and east of Crowders Mountain State Park.
A warrant was issued in Puerto Rico in 2013 for Perez-Ruiz’s arrest on a homicide charge, the U.S. Marshals Service said. Perez-Ruiz soon fled to the continental United States to avoid capture, the service said in a statement
Perez-Ruiz will be held in the Gaston County Jail pending extradition to Puerto Rico.
