A nurse practitioner at Piedmont Healthcare-Urgent Care in Mooresville is accused of writing fake prescriptions to obtain oxycodone at local pharmacies.
Mooresville police on Wednesday charged Bethany Rachel Boroughs, 40, of Huntersville, with one count each of obtaining controlled substances by fraud or forgery and attempting to obtain controlled substances by fraud or forgery, and two counts of identity theft for writing fraudulent prescriptions and obtaining controlled substances by fraud or forgery.
Police said Boroughs wrote the fake prescriptions while working at the Piedmont Healthcare-Urgent Care on Days Inn Drive, at Interstate 77 Exit 36.
Boroughs was jailed on $5,000 bail.
