Expect heavy traffic uptown midweek for the 2015 Belk College Kickoff FanFest and game.

Setup for the festivities will close Mint Street between Morehead and Stonewall streets from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday.

FanFest takes place 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. The Belk College Kickoff football game – North Carolina vs. South Carolina – will start at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bank of America Stadium, 800 S. Mint St.

The midweek uptown lineup also includes Charlotte Knights games at BB&T Ballpark. The Knights will play the Durham Bulls at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, at 12:05 p.m. Thursday and 7:05 p.m. Friday.

Sundae Run

Part of Morrowick Road in south Charlotte will be closed at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Sundae Run, a family event that will end with ice cream sundaes served in a bowl that you can take home.

The 5K race and fun run start at Carmel Middle School, 5001 Camilla Drive. The event is open to the public.

The route for the race moves along Morrowick Circle Drive, Morrowick Road, Whitney Hill Road, Pepperdine Drive, Fernbank Drive and Tanbridge Road.

Light rail service interruption

This weekend, light rail service will be interrupted. The Lynx Blue Line will be available Saturday and Sunday only between the Seventh Street Station uptown and the New Bern Station.

There will be no train service from the Interstate 485/South Boulevard Station to New Bern.

Bus service will be available on the Lynx Connector bus, which will follow the same schedule as the train, according to the Charlotte Area Transit System. That means about every 20 minutes.

CATS will close the stations as it makes improvements to serve more light-rail riders.
