NASCAR Hall of Fame will host its first tree lighting ceremony Saturday evening at the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza.
The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at 400 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed during the event between Brevard and Caldwell streets, according to Charlotte Department of Transportation.
The event will include music, food trucks, family activities and photos taken inside a giant snow globe. Special guests include Santa, NASCAR Sprint Cup series driver Kevin Harvick and NASCAR mascot Champ the Cheetah. The first 2,500 guests get a Santa hat.

A portion of North Davidson Street will close in uptown at 7 a.m. on Monday for work on the $2.5 million First Ward Storm Drainage Improvement Project.
The outbound lane of North Davidson will be closed between East Seventh and East Eighth streets and is scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24.
Outbound traffic will follow a detour along East Seventh, North Caldwell, and East Eighth streets.
Outbound Seventh Street traffic will detour along East Seventh, North McDowell and East Eighth streets, according to Charlotte Department of Transportation.
Crews will be making improvements to a main stormwater system that begins on North Davidson at the First Ward Place Apartments. The system continues through the apartment complex, ending at North Alexander Street and Parkside Terrace Lane.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2016.
▪ The 3000 block of Rodman Street is closed until 5 p.m. on Dec. 21 between Wheatley Avenue and Burkland Drive for stormwater system maintenance. The detour follows Wheatley Avenue, Bunche Drive and Burkland Drive, according to CDOT.
▪ The 900 block of Colville Road is closed until 5 p.m. on Dec. 11 for stormwater system maintenance. The detour follows Scotland Avenue, Cherokee Road and Lockley Drive.
▪ The closing of East 16th Street for construction of the Lynx Blue Line Extension has been postponed. Crews were scheduled to block the road this month between North Tryon Street and Parkwood Avenue. A new closing date has not been announced by Charlotte Department of Transportation.
