The Monster Jam truck show is expected to bring hundreds of children and adults to uptown’s Time Warner Cable Arena this weekend.

Grave Digger and seven other big wheelers will rev engines at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and again at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

But light-rail service to the arena won’t be available for the shows Saturday.

Blue Line service will be available Saturday and Sunday only between the Scaleybark Station and South Boulevard/Interstate 485 stations.

Bus service will be available from the New Bern Station to the arena aboard the Lynx Connector during construction for the rail-line expansion. On the way home, board the Connector bus at Bay V on the Brevard Street side of the transportation center.

Service to the Seventh Street Station will not be available this weekend.

Limiting light-rail service will permit work on the Blue Line Capacity Expansion Project, which will allow for more trains and more riders, according to Charlotte Area Transit System. For more information, visit ridetransit.org or call 704-336-7433.

Street closings coming uptown

North Church Street will be closed to southbound traffic from 6 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Sunday to allow a crane to lift heating and cooling equipment at the Ivey Apartment building. Use West Fifth, Tryon and West Fourth streets as a detour.

Northbound lanes of South College Street will be closed 7 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m Sunday between East Hill and East Stonewall streets for stormwater system work.

A detour for College Street will follow East Morehead, South Tryon, East Hill and East Stonewall streets. Bus service by Charlotte Area Transit System will be affected while streets are closed.
