Teachers at the University of South Carolina and Central Carolina Technical College have been named Professors of the Year in South Carolina.
The two were honored Wednesday morning in a reception hosted by Gov. Nikki Haley.
Winners of this year’s awards were Milind Kunchur, a physics professor at South Carolina; and Christopher Hall, who teaches criminal justice technology at Central Carolina in Sumter.
Each winner received a check for $5,000.

Kunchur is a world-renowned scientist who has done research in areas such as super conductivity and the neurophysiology of human hearing.
Hall was a corrections officer before entering the teaching profession. He also is a sergeant in the Provost Marshal’s Detachment of the South Carolina State Guard.
