Union County Schools officials have informed parents that a student or staff member at Sandy Ridge Elementary School near Marvin has been diagnosed with MRSA.
No additional cases have been reported of the antibiotic-resistant bacterial disease.
Parents at the school, off Waxhaw-Marvin Road, were informed of the development with an automated telephone call Monday. In addition, letters were sent to parents.
Tahira Stalberte, a spokeswoman for the Union County Public Schools, said crews sanitized the school as a precaution.
