‘No foul play’ in death of App State student Grayson Huffman

Boone police are investigating the death of an Appalachian State University student whose body was discovered Tuesday at an apartment near campus.

Boone police identified the man as Grayson Charles Huffman, 22. His body was found in an apartment in the 200 block of Oak Street. Huffman was a finance student from Harrisburg.

Investigators said there is no indication of foul play.

Huffman’s is the third death of an ASU student this semester.

The body of Anna Smith, 18, was discovered Sept. 13 in a wooded area near campus. She had disappeared more than a week earlier, and the state medical examiner’s office ruled this month that her death was a suicide.

Last Thursday, campus police found the body of Jeremy Sprinkle, 18, of Kernersville in the Lovill residence hall. No foul play was involved in that incident, police said. Mark Washburn contributed.
