4 Charlotte-Mecklenburg elementary schools get new principals

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has named four new elementary school principals as the start of the 2016-17 school year approaches.

Lauren Fowler becomes principal of Myers Park Traditional Elementary, a magnet school. She was principal of Nathaniel Alexander Elementary for the last three years and taught there before that.

Bridget Wilson will step in as principal of Nathaniel Alexander, a northeast Charlotte neighborhood school. She has been interim principal at Mallard Creek Elementary since 2015 and has worked at several other CMS elementary schools.

Patti Johanson was appointed principal of Olde Providence Elementary, a south Charlotte neighborhood school. She has been principal of Briarwood Elementary for the last two years and led Blythe Elementary and Myers Park Traditional before that.

Jovana Edwards was named principal at Polo Ridge Elementary, a south Charlotte neighborhood school. She has been an assistant principal at Providence High since 2012, and before that was a teacher and administrator at Smithfield Elementary.
