Reigning North Carolina teacher of the year James Ford has been in high demand this year, criss-crossing the state and lending his knowledge to the state Board of Education.
Now he has a new responsibility: chairman of the governor’s Teacher Advisory Committee.
Gov. Pat McCrory announced his appointment Tuesday. The committee was reactivated in 2013 with the goal of informing policies on recruiting and retaining teachers, recognizing innovation in schools and improving student performance.
The term is one year, but members can be reappointed. Ford’s first meeting with the group was Tuesday.
