Chest Development: Advice from the 1930s

Taken from a May, 1937 installment:

“Chest Development”

Dateline: Hollywood

“It was not many years ago when a flat chest was considered an asset to a fashionable figure but now a small bust measure worries the modern girl as much as over-large hips do. A really well-proportioned figure - one that is flattered by a bathing suit - must have a bust as large or almost as large as the hips.

If a bust does not develop normally by the middle teens it suggests lack of vitality. The flat-chested girl is a shallow breather and often has round shoulders. A sagging abdomen and hollow back often go with these defects.”
