We Were Wrong - the early days

1932
1932 The Charlotte Observer

As long as there have been newspapers there have been corrections ... From Feb, 1931:

“Jake Widenhouse of Kannapolis who escaped from the Mecklenburg chain gang several weeks ago and who was described in a story from Concord in the Observer yesterday as an outlaw, has not been outlawed, but is merely missing, according to information given to the Observer. Young Widenhouse recently pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to the chaingang. We regret the error.” Hmmm. Just a misunderstanding, I’m sure, lol!
