A poll for Democratic U.S. Rep. Alma Adams this month showed her leading rivals in her re-election bid and only two other candidates had double-digit support in a seven-candidate primary field.
Adams, in her first term, is running in the 12th District, which was redrawn to fall completely in Mecklenburg County.
The poll showed her with the support of 37 percent of likely voters in the June 7 primary.
Former state Sen. Malcolm Graham had 28 percent and state Rep. Tricia Cotham had 11 percent.
No other candidate had more than 3 percent. The margin of error of the poll was 4.9 percentage points.
Adams, a retired teacher from Greensboro, has said she plans to move to Charlotte.
