Anna Spangler Nelson, a Charlotte investor and civic activist, was elected Tuesday to the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
The N.C. Senate voted overwhelmingly to appoint Nelson to the seat vacated by Fred Eshelman, a Wilmington pharmaceutical executive, who left the board in June.
Nelson co-chairs Project LIFT, a public-private partnership designed to boost student performance in many west Charlotte schools.
She’s the daughter of Charlotte businessman C.D. Spangler, a former president of the UNC system. Jim Morrill
