Aaron Church, who has served as Yadkin County manager for four years, is taking the same position in Rowan County.
Church will take the Rowan County post Oct. 1, county commissioners announced Friday. He will replace Gary Page, who retired Aug. 29.
During his tenure in Yadkin County, Church oversaw completion of the Hood-Chamberlin Dam that created Lake Hampton. The Yadkin Memorial Park is being built on the lake’s banks and is scheduled to open this fall. The new Yadkin County Detention Center also was completed under Church’s direction.
He is an Appalachian State University graduate with bachelors and masters degrees. Church was a consultant with the N.C. Employment Securtity Commission before becoming assistant to the county manager in Burke County. He moved to Yadkin County in 2009 as deputy manager and became county manager in June 2010.
