Former North Carolina Gov. Jim Martin said Tuesday he hasn’t “found a way to support” either of the two main presidential candidates.
“I haven’t found a way to support anybody yet,” said Martin, a Republican. “You’ve got two criminals running for president.”
Martin said he’s going to work instead to re-elect Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Burr and Gov. Pat McCrory.
He said the most important issue to him is the choice of Supreme Court justices. “The way to address it is to make sure we have a Republican Senate,” he said.

Martin said Senate Republicans should have confirmed Judge Merrick Garland, whom President Barack Obama’s nominated to the high court. GOP Senate leaders refused to hold hearings on Garland.
“He’s the most moderate that we’ve got,” Martin said.
