Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will headline a pair of Charlotte-area fundraisers next week that organizers say could raise more than $2 million.
As many as 400 people are expected at an Aug. 18 reception and dinner at Charlotte’s Westin Hotel, including national GOP Chairman Reince Priebus, according to organizer Ed Broyhill. Gov. Pat McCrory and U.S. Sens. Richard Burr and Thom Tillis are listed as honorary co-chairs.
Tickets to the Charlotte event run as high as $50,000. Co-chairs include former Nucor Chairman Dan DiMicco, one of Trump’s economic advisers; Charlotte Pipe and Foundry CEO Roddey Dowd Jr. and Broyhill, a Winston-Salem investor.
About 300 people are expected at a midday event at Trump National Golf Club near Mooresville.
The money goes to Trump Victory, a joint fundraising effort between the Trump campaign and the Republican Party.
The two fundraisers will come just over a week after Tuesday’s Trump rallies in Wilmington and Fayetteville.
The events come after Trump’s campaign rebooted in the state. His campaign changed its state director and brought in a spokesman. His daughter-in-law and other high-profile representatives were in the state last week and over the weekend.
