According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, subtropical storm Ana has formed off the southeast United States.
It's about 170 miles south-southeast of Myrtle Beach, S.C. with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
A tropical storm watch is in effect from Edisto Beach, S.C., to Cape Lookout, N.C.
Some slight strengthening is expected in the next day or so according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm is also expected to cause life-threatening surf and rip currents along the areas in the watch.
