Black education leader breaks with Obama on higher ed

Michael Lomax, the president of the United Negro College Fund, met with the Observer editorial board on Wednesday. He talked about the UNCF’s mission of helping low-income minority students graduate from college and supporting historically black colleges and universities.

In the video below, Lomax tells us why he opposes President Obama’s plan for free community college; he says Obama had a “bad day” when he was talking to the Congressional Black Caucus; and he says he’s not losing sleep over having the word “negro” in his organization’s name. Check it out:
