Beem will call races at Monmouth Park for opening 2 months

Jason Beem is going to call the thoroughbred races at Monmouth Park for the opening two months of the season.

Track general manager Bill Anderson announced the hiring Monday. He says Beem will handle the job until regular race caller Frank Mirahmadi returns after the Santa Anita meet in California concludes June 23.

Monmouth Park opens May 4, the day of the Kentucky Derby.

Beem has called races at Portland Meadows for 10 years. He also has called races at River Downs (now Belterra Park), Louisiana Downs, Emerald Downs and during the Gulfstream Park West meet.

Mirahmadi will return for his fifth season at the Jersey Shore track starting June 28. He was hired as the full-time announcer by Santa Anita last fall.
