Notre Dame missed out on the College Football Playoff, but it will participate in one of the marquee bowl games.
The Irish (10-2) will play Ohio State (11-1) in the Fiesta Bowl at noon on New Year's Day at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
"It's a great accomplishment for our football team," Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. " ... Our players recognize the challenge that we have."
It's the sixth meeting between the schools. Ohio State leads the all-time series 3-2. The teams last met in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, 2006, which Ohio State won 34-20.
