Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte Hornets Observations

•  The reaction when ex-Indiana Pacer Lance Stephenson was introduced Wednesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse was mostly cheers with a sprinkling of boos. They still love him here; they just don’t love him in purple-and-teal.

•  A faction of the crowd booed Stephenson every time he touched the ball, the way Charlotte crowds treat former Duke star J.J. Redick.

•  The injury situation had Hornets coach Steve Clifford scrambling for a rotation Wednesday. Wing players Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (stress reaction in his right foot), Gary Neal (concussion) and P.J. Hairston (right ankle sprain) all missed the Pacers game.

That left Clifford with only two true wing players in starters Stephenson and Gerald Henderson. Clifford played power forward Marvin Williams some at small forward and point guard Brian Roberts some at shooting guard.

•  It’s possible Jeff Taylor will start practicing with the Hornets as soon as Saturday. Taylor can’t travel with the team until his suspension is completed.
