Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte Hornets - New York Knicks Observations 12.05.14

•  The Hornets got back shooting guard Gary Neal after he missed three games with a left shoulder injury. Neal played with a harness and padding around the injury, but it didn’t appear to impede his play.

•  The NBA now allows referees to check replay for the possibility of a flagrant foul whether one was originally called. Good use of that option Friday, when the Knicks’ Jason Smith and the Hornets’ Bismack Biyombo got into it in the second quarter. The original call of a common foul on Smith held up.

•  There are air balls and then there are air balls. Knicks reserve guard Pablo Prigioni missed a jump shot in the second quarter that looked two feet off the rim.

•  Hornets coach Steve Clifford said pregame he was concerned by the 17 offensive rebounds the Knicks collected Thursday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. But at halftime the Hornets led rebounding by a 27-16 margin.
