Matchup to Watch

Kyrie Irving vs. Kemba Walker: With new teammate LeBron James such a good facilitator, point guard Irving can concentrate more on attacking offensively. He’s scored at least 20 points in 14 of 22 games this season.

• The Cavaliers lost their last two, on the road to the Thunder and Pelicans, but they’re on an eight-game winning streak against Eastern Conference teams.

• The Cavaliers have lost five in a row to the Bobcats/Hornets, but that was obviously before acquiring James and Kevin Love this off-season.

• It’s possible Hornets coach Steve Clifford re-inserts small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist into the starting lineup beginning this game. That would likely make Gerald Henderson a reserve.

• Cavaliers forward Mike Miller has been out with a concussion.

Did you know?

James just passed Hornets assistant coach Mark Price for most 3-pointers in Cavaliers history (802). James needs 238 more assists to pass Price for that franchise record.
