No. 6 Vance at No. 15 West Charlotte, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.: A MECKA rivalry game that features multiple college recruits -- and likely a big crowd, too.

No. 9 Robinson at No. 12 Cox Mill, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.: Cabarrus County rivals square off in a rematch of a N.C. 3A playoff game that Robinson won en route to a state title. The game features two of the state’s top players: Robinson guard Lavar Batts, a VCU recruit, and Cox Mill sophomore Wendell Moore.

No. 13 Hough girls at No. 1 Mallard Creek, Tuesday, 6 p.m.: The Huskies try to pull off the upset on the road. Mallard Creek has looked dominant in early season play.

No. 8 Lincolnton at East Lincoln, Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Whatever sport these two rivals meet in is big news in Lincoln County, but particularly in football and basketball -- where both schools seem to always be state title contenders. And they are this year in basketball again.

United Faith at Carmel Christian, Friday, 7:30 p.m.: conference rivals meet and United Faith coach Josh Coley will face his old school. Coley coached at Carmel last season, leading the Cougars to a conference championship.
