Duke offers men’s basketball scholarship to Cabarrus County high school star

Cannon School junior Jairus Hamilton has been offered by Duke.

Hamilton, a 6-8 small forward, averaged 23 points, 7.5 rebounds and five assists last season for a N.C. Independent Schools 3A state semifinalist. Hamilton was named to the N.C. Associated Press all-state team and was the Charlotte Observer regional player of the year.

He is ranked No. 32 in ESPN’s top 80 rankings for the class of 2018. He is the highest-rated N.C. prospect.

Hamilton has more than 20 offers, including national powers Arizona, Louisville, Kansas and North Carolina.
