Lake Norman Charter girls track: won the N.C. 2A Western regional meet Saturday. It was the first time the school has won a boys or girls track regional event.

Forestview, Marvin Ridge track: Forestview’s boys won the NCHSAA 3A Western Regional Saturday. Marvin Ridge took boys and girls titles at the Midwest 3A regional meet. Full meet results below

Providence Day track: Chargers dominated the CISAA conference meet Saturday. The boys won by 96 points over Charlotte Country Day. The girls won by 106 points, also over Country Day. Complete winners, team scores below. Chargers girls star Emerson Porter, a UNC recruit, won four events: pole vault, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and ran on the winning 800 relay team.

Sun Valley, North Stanly softball: In the 3A playoffs, Sun Valley knocked off No. 3seed and perennial state title contender Enka 12-6 on the road. And in 1A, North Stanly beat No. 2 seed and perennial state title contender Hiwassee Dam 12-1 on the road.

Indian Land girls track star Kaitlyn Rodman: 1,600 S.C. state champion was third in the 3,200 and sixth in the 800.

Indian Land girls soccer: beat Brookland-Cayce 5-3 on penalty kicks after the teams tied in overtime in the S.C. 3A state championship game. Indian Land finished 19-5-1. Game details below

Noah Hays, Providence lacrosse: Hays, fighting a brave battle against cancer, signed a one-day contract with the Charlotte Hounds for Saturday’s game against Chesapeake. He got to dress and be with the team throughout the game. For every $10 ticket sold, $3 was donated to his cancer fight. The event was held in conjunction with Major League Lacrosse’s partnership with the American Cancer Society and the Real Men Wear Pink campaign.

Garrison Burress, South Caldwell baseball: 3-for-4 hitting with three RBIs and three runs scored in a 8-7 win over East Forsyth in the N.C. 4A playoffs. South Caldwell scored in the bottom of the seventh to win a game where East Forsyth stranded 14 baserunners.

Isaiah Cole, Bessemer City boys track and field: won high jump plus 100- and 200-meter dashes at the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A Western Regionals. Full results, area winners, below

Matt Elder, Lake Norman boys lacrosse: three goals, three assists in an 11-7 win over Winston-Salem Reynolds in the N.C. quarterfinals.

William Harwood, Pine Lake Prep baseball: senior pitcher threw a 2-hitter in a 1-0 win over East Surry, the No. 1 seed in the N.C. 1A Western playoffs. Harwood retired 18 of the last 19 batters he faced, including the last 17 in a row. Pine Lake Prep is a No. 14 seed.
