SouthLake Christian Volleyball Breast Cancer Awareness Tribute: This is the third year the school has held a volleyball match to raise money to aid current staff and faculty who are dealing with this disease. This year is especially personal for senior captain Kylee Garrison, who recently lost her aunt, Denise Johnson, to the disease at 51 after a two-year fight. Garrison is coordinating this year’s event in tribute to her aunt. This year’s game is Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Gaston Christian.

Butler boys basketball: Bulldogs picked up 6-foot-9 junior transfer Isaiah Richards, who has moved to the Matthews area. Richards played at South Shore High School in Brooklyn, NY, last season. ESPN ranked Richards as one of the top 12 college recruits in New York State and a four-star recruit overall. Last season, Richards averaged 6.8 points and 8.5 rebounds, which he boosted to 11.25 points and eight rebounds in the playoffs. He’s the second high-profile transfer at Butler, following former Rocky River High all-conference star Raquan Brown.
