NCISAA football pairings bring change for Mecklenburg County schools

The N.C. Independent Schools released its high school football playoff pairings Sunday, and they looked a lot different than in past years.

The state association did not use predetermined classifications, instead reseeding all teams into three Divisions for postseason play.

Two Mecklenburg County teams that have traditionally been in Division I will drop down into Division II: Charlotte Country Day will play at Metrolina Christian Friday. Charlotte Latin will host Wake Christian.

The Division II playoffs will last three weeks.

The Division I playoff, which includes just four teams, will last two weeks. Friday’s semifinals will both be in Charlotte. Arden Christ School plays at Charlotte Christian, and High Point Christian plays at Providence Day.

Division II

Cannon School (6-4) at Statesville Christian (9-1)

Charlotte Country Day (5-5) at Metrolina Christian (8-2)

Raleigh Ravenscroft (7-4) at Trinity Christian (9-0)

Wake Christian (6-4) at Charlotte Latin (6-4)

Division III

Northside Christian (3-7) at Village Christian (6-4)

Harrells Christian (4-6) at Hickory Grove (5-5)

Rabun Gap (4-6) at SouthLake Christian (3-6)

Asheville School (4-6) at Concord First Assembly (5-5)
