Two new teams join the Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16 high school football poll this week.

Concord Robinson upset A.L. Brown last week 49-42, winning its seventh straight game and the South Piedmont 3A conference championship. Coach Joe Glass’ team moves into the Sweet 16 at No. 15. Robinson plays Central Cabarrus (4-6) in its regular-season finale Friday.

Joining them in the poll is Providence. The Panthers (7-3) return to the poll after beating then ranked West Mecklenburg 38-14 three weeks ago and not looking back. Providence has won three straight, averaging 46.3 points in the streak. Providence hosts SoMeck league rival South Mecklenburg (2-8) in its regular-season finale Friday.
