Private school rivals stay atop Sweet baseball 16 poll. Showdown imminent?
As the high school baseball playoffs get under way this week, there are no new teams in The Observer’s Sweet 16 regional poll.
The rankings include NCHSAA and NCISAA teams in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Union counties. They are compiled by longtime N.C. high school sports expert Alex Bass, a co-host of The Observer’s “Talking Preps” streaming show.
Charlotte Christian maintained its grip on the top spot this week, just ahead of Metrolina Christian, the reigning NC 4A private school state champs.
Charlotte Christian and Metrolina Christian could meet in the playoffs later this month.
