Tuesday’s Top Games

No. 5 Hopewell girls (7-1, 1-1 MECKA) at No. 13 North Mecklenburg (8-1, 2-0), 6: North Meck has won three in a row and now takes aim at a MECKA conference favorite. Hopewell, then No. 2 in the Sweet 16, was upset by Mallard Creek Friday. Tuesday’s boys game could be good. Unranked Hopewell (6-2) has won three in a row. North Meck is unbeaten and No. 2 in the Sweet 16.

No. 3 Concord Robinson (6-0, 4-0 South Piedmont 3A) at No. 8 Cox Mill (7-1, 4-1), 7:30: Robinson’s Lavar Batts (21.2 ppg), Jordan McKenzie (14.8) and Daniel Spencer (14.8) are having huge years for Robinson. Cox Mill, beaten by Concord Friday, cannot afford to get too far behind the leader in what’s going to be a tough conference title race.

West Charlotte (4-3, 1-1 MECKA) at No. 15 Vance (8-2, 1-0), 7:30: West Charlotte has lost two of its last four games -- to Sweet 16 top 5 North Meck and Charlotte Catholic. Vance has won seven straight to beat its 2014-15 win total, already, by two games.
