The No. 1 (Observer Sweet 16), unbeaten, Independence football team celebrated senior night in style with a 47-19 win over Rocky River on Friday night.
But it was junior tailback, Quantavious McGill, that stole the show for the Patriots rushing for 267 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries to lead his team to victory.
After Rocky River (6-4, 3-2) scored on their first possession of the game on one-yard Naiil Ramadan run, Independence scored the next 35 points of the first half, scoring on five of their last six possessions to take a 35-6 lead into the break.
McGill did a lot of the damage, rushing for 168 yards and three scores in the first half, including scoring runs of 25, 43 and 50 yards.

After an hour and 18 minutes lightening and rain delay in the third quarter, McGill put an exclamation point on his night with an 82-yard touchdown run to make it 41-13 with just 10:29 remaining in the third quarter.
Independence senior quarterback Kelvin Hopkins also had a big night, going 8-for-15 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 92 yards and another score on 10 carries. Patriot senior wideouts Jamar Jenkins (38-yard touchdown catch) and Will Walton (8-yard touchdown catch) also caught touchdown passes in the victory.
The Independence (10-0, 5-0) win sets up the showdown at arch rival Butler (9-1, 5-0), No. 2 in the Observer Sweet 16, next Friday night, where the Southwestern 4A conference title will be stake.
Meanwhile, Rocky River was led by senior Jaire Alexander (South Carolina commit) who rushed for 79 yards and a scored on a 65-yard touchdown gallop, and also scored a 17-yard touchdown pass from Ramadan.
Rocky River will close out their regular season when they host Porter Ridge next Friday.
