Lake Norman Charter tops N.C. Science and Math for 2A girls’ tennis title

Lake Norman Charter, in the state finals for the first time in girls’ tennis, won the 2A championship Saturday at N.C. State University.

Lake Norman Charter (17-0) beat Durham’s North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (12-1) 5-2. Hannah and Olivia Archer won their singles matches and then combined for a 10-0 win in No. 1 doubles. The Archers also won the N.C. 2A individual singles championships earlier this month.

Lake Norman Charter’s Lauren Loveless, who won a tiebreaker to win her match and give her team a 4-2 lead, was named most valuable player. Loveless is Lake Norman Charter’s No. 5 singles player.

Science and Math has been to the championship seven times in the past eight years in two classifications andwon two titles.

Lake Norman Charter also got a singles win from Lauren Bush.
