Charlotte-Area High School Football Players of the Week

Izaiah Thomas, Monroe: In Friday’s 67-14 win against Ashe County, Thomas, a junior defensive end, had eight total tackles, four sacks and five quarterback hurries. Monroe had 11 QB sacks and 23 hurries.

Chazz Surratt, East Lincoln: Completed 18-of-21 passes for 295 yards and five touchdowns in Friday’s 49-28 win against R-S Central. He rushed 13 times for 150 yards.

Eric Gallman, SouthLake Christian: Made the state championship-saving tackle against Davidson Day in overtime Friday. He was knocked out on the play and was taken to the hospital. Gallman, who also had an interception, has been released and is OK.

Jaquan Brooks, South Point: Had 13 carries for 261 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-21 upset over previously unbeaten Concord.

Bishop Ford, Hough: Had 26 carries for 189 yards and two scores as Hough upset previously unbeaten Independence, which was No. 1 in the Observer’s Sweet 16.

Josh Ladowski, Lake Norman: Ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns and threw for 204 yards and two scores in Friday’s 41-26 win against Ardrey Kell.
