Charlotte-area high school basketball games of the week

No. 1 West Charlotte boys at No. 15 Harding, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.: The first of two big tests for the Lions this week. Harding is one of the toughest places to play in Mecklenburg County, and West Charlotte will play No. 12 Berry at home Friday. West Charlotte’s girls, No. 9 in the Sweet 16, will face No. 14 Berry on Friday as well.

No. 2 Providence Day boys at Greensboro Day, Tuesday, 6 p.m.: Providence Day has played three nationally ranked teams and Hough, one of the top teams in the state. Tuesday, the Chargers will get another N.C. power in 7-0 Greensboro Day and coach Freddy Johnson, who has won more than 900 high school games.

Charlotte United boys at Winston-Salem Quality Education, Tuesday, 7 p.m.: Quality Education (7-3) will bring a lot of size and college talent in against former Charlotte 49ers star Mitchell Baldwin’s team at Charlotte United, where senior Mike Baez is off to a hot start. Charlotte United will have another high-level game at Northside Christian on Thursday, when Baldwin will coach against Byron Dinkins, another former 49ers point guard.

No. 4 Myers Park boys at Charlotte Catholic, Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.: The Mustangs (3-0), who will play rival South Mecklenburg at home Tuesday, will visit another rival in Charlotte Catholic (2-0) on Wednesday. Coach Mike King’s Cougars beat Charlotte Country Day and Christ The King to start the season.

Myers Park girls vs. Conway (Ark.) in Blackman (Tenn.) Tournament, Friday: Myers Park is No. 5 in MaxPreps national poll and will play No. 9 Conway on Friday and No. 1 Blackman on Saturday.
