Monday morning, most of North Carolina’s high school football teams will officially begin practicing for the 2016 season.
Weddington High plans to get a jump on its neighbors. Union County athletics director Doug Jones said the Warriors will hold a midnight practice. Players and fans will gather at the stadium late Sunday night to get ready.
Several teams throughout the state are doing midnight practices, including Greensboro Dudley and Western Guilford.
Weddington was 11-3 last season under coach Tim Carson and opens its season Aug. 19 at rival Ardrey Kell.
