Hamilton, 17, is ranked No. 17 in the national rankings. He is the second-highest ranked N.C. player overall. Recent High Point Wesleyan transfer Jaylen Hoard, a 6-8 forward, is No. 8. Spartanburg (SC) star Zion Williamson is ranked No. 2 nationally.
Hamilton was runner-up player of the year in the CISAA conference to Providence Day’s Grant Williams, a two-time Charlotte Observer player of the year. Williams is now a freshman at Tennessee.
Last season, Hamilton was named all-state by the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association. He averaged 22.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.3 steals. He shot 46 percent from the field. He has scholarship offers from Baylor, Davidson, Florida, Maryland, Miami, N.C. State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Southern California, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
Concord’s Rechon Black, who has committed to North Carolina, is ranked No. 14. Black transferred from Concord High to Montverde (Fla.) Academy last month.
