Elevator

Butler softball: beat Independence 4-0 on Senior Night Thursday to win school’s first Southwestern 4A championship since 2010. Mackenzie Silvia and Madison Thomas combined for the pitching shutout.

Providence baseball: won 4-2 at Charlotte Catholic Friday to win the SoMeck 8 conference championship.

Alexander Central baseball offense: 11 first-inning runs in a 15-3 runaway over West Iredell. Alexander finished with 12 hits.

Friday’s #BIG5 Performers

Emma Banks, West Iredell softball: pitching win in a come-from-behind 10-9 win over Alexander Central. She was 2-2 hitting with three runs and four RBIs.

McKaley Boston, Susan Wilkerson, Gaston Day girls soccer: Boston had three goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Carmel Christian. Wilkerson got her ninth shutout in goal for the Spartans (12-5, 7-3 MAC), who play Northside at home Monday in the first round of the conference tournament.

Maddie Capel, Hickory Ridge girls soccer: Capel scored five goals in. 9-0 win over Carson. The Bulls improved to 14-3-2 overall and 13-2-2 in the South Piedmont Conference under first-year head coach and former Charlotte 49er Carrie Maxwell.

Will Holthouser, Hough baseball: 5-for-5 in Vance doubleheader. He was 3-for-3 with a triple and six RBIs in the second game.

Brian Petta, Weddington baseball: 1-4 with an RBI in a 2-1 extra innings with over Southern Carolina conference rival Marvin Ridge. He was also the winning pitcher, scattering seven hits.
