Cary Green Hope’s Camden Holbrook is the 2016-17 Gatorade N.C. boys soccer player of the year. He’s the third player to win the award from his high school.
Holbrook, a 6-foot-2 junior, led his team to a 28-1 record and a N.C. 4A state championship last November. Green Hope beat Porter Ridge 3-0 in the finals. For the season, Holbrook scored 17 goals and had 24 assists.
Holbrook, who carries a 3.38 weighted GPA, was a N.C. Soccer Coaches first team All-State selection and is a two-time Southwest Wake Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
A member of the Green Hope High Drama Club, Holbrook has volunteered locally delivering food to the elderly.
“What made Cam so good is he was dangerous from any spot on the field,” said Chad Sichak, head coach of Panther Creek High School. “He has great vision and anticipates other players probably the best that I have seen at the high school level.”
