Victory Christian-Carolina Pride football Friday: Victory Christian was forced to forfeit due to not having enough eligible players. Just three years ago, Victory Christian won the N.C. Independent Schools Division III state championship.

Nate Springs, United Faith: Springs, a 6-foot-10 senior, has transferred from Myers Park. Springs has several Division I offers.

Cox Mill volleyball: reigning N.C. 3A champs beat 4A power Providence 3-0 in their home opener Thursday. Cox Mill (4-1), which lost to North Raleigh Christian 3-1 at the Best of the Carolinas Tournament last week, ending 36-match win streak, plays 4A power Mallard Creek at home Monday.

Olivia Archer, Lake Norman Charter tennis: sparked her team to 7-2 win over Providence Day by winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Lisandro Lopez, Alexander Central soccer: goal, assist in 2-0 win over Newton Foard. Alexander is 3-1 and plays at Catawba Bandys Tuesday. Hector Santamaria also scored for Alexander Thursday.

Bernhard Schlagbaeur, Gaston Day soccer: two goals in regulation, two in overtime of a 4-2 win over Northside Christian. He was assisted by Reid Jentsch, Hunter Warren, and Sam Morrison. Fernando Rodriguez-Guillen scored both goals for Northside. Gaston Day (4-1-0, 1-0-0) will play Carolina Day at home on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Riley Tucker, Central Cabarrus: 17 digs, seven kills in a 3-2 loss to North Stanly. Teammate Makenna MacDougall had 16 assists.

Gabriel Walker, Braden Whitford, Hickory Christian soccer: accounted for three goals in a 3-1 win over Lenoir Hibriten. In five games, Hickory Christian has outscored opponents 17-2.

Zoe Weatherington, Charlotte Country Day volleyball: 16 kills, 17 digs, three aces in a 3-1 win over Metrolina Christian.
