Jarett Garner, Dylan Ratliff, Hickory Ridge football: Garner, a top 20 N.C. recruit at wide receiver, and Ratliff, a quarterback, had big games in Friday’s 28-6 win over Rocky River. Ratliff completed 17-of-24 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns. Garner caught six passes for 207 yards and three scores. Hickory Ridge (7-0) plays Myers Park (6-1) Friday.

Jonathan Timberlake, Arborbrook Christian cross-country: Ran a time of 17 minutes, 15.43 seconds to win a CISAA meet at McAlpine Park Tuesday. He won by more than 13 seconds.

Sedona Dancu, Covenant Day cross-country: Ran a time of 20:28.64 to win a CISAA regular-season meet at McAlpine. She won by nearly seven seconds.

Hough volleyball: Clinched I-MECK championship with 3-0 win over Mallard Creek Tuesday. Hough (18-5, 13-0) won its seventh straight match. Olivia Cerick (11 kills, nine digs, two aces), Kaelyn Mulwee (nine kills), Lana Strejcek (nine kills) and Erin Cooke (nine kills, four blocks) led the Huskies. Hough won its seventh straight league championship.

Charlotte Latin field hockey: two goals from Caroline Juckett in 4-1 win over Providence Day helped keep the Hawks unbeaten at 16-0.

Tuesday’s Top Performers

Colton Brewer, Gaston Christian soccer: three goals plus an assist in a 6-3 win over Rock Hill’s Westminster Catawba School in the MAC semifinals. Davis McBee had two goals and two assists for Gaston Christian (16-2-1), which plays Concord First Assembly in the MAC championship game Thursday at 7.

Drew Brown, Aly DeFrancisco, Lauralee Hurst, Sidney Bing, Gaston Day volleyball: the four Spartans’ stars led a 3-1 win over Metrolina Christian in the MAC tournament semifinals Tuesday. All four are all-conference picks. In Tuesday’s win, Brown had 15 kills, 10 digs, 3 aces, and 2 assists; DeFrancisco had 25 digs, 3 aces, and 2 assists; Hurst had 22 kills, 18 digs, 3 blocks, 2 aces, and two assists; and Bing had 40 assists, 19 digs, 5 kills, 3 aces, and a block.

Megan Frost, Myers Park field hockey: four goals in 4-1 win over Charlotte Country Day.

Richard and Walker Gillespie, Charlotte Country Day soccer: In a 7-0 win over Charlotte Christian, the Bucs (13-1-4, 6-1-2) exploded for five second half goals. For the match, Walker had a goal and two assists. Richard had two goals. Connor McPhilliamy and Brenden Slomka shared the school’s 13th shutout of the season.

Mitch Jeter, Cannon School soccer: two goals in a 4-2 win over Charlotte Latin (9-8-1, 5-4 CISAA). Cannon improved to 6-6-4, 4-2-2.

Zoe Weatherington, Charlotte Country Day volleyball: 17 kills, 13 digs, two aces and a block in a 3-0 win over Charlotte Christian. Teammates Caroline Kosmicki (13 kills, 10 digs, ace) and Braden Nash (18 digs) also had strong games for the Bucs.
