Concord High hires Marty Paxton as its new football coach

Concord High has hired Marty Paxton as its next football coach.

Paxton, a Concord graduate, resigned his position as football coach at Mooresville Tuesday.

This will be Paxton’s third head coaching job. He was 12-12 in two years at Mooresville. Prior to that, Paxton coached nine years at Hickory Ridge going 56-53.

At Concord, he replaces Glen Padgett and is just the third Spiders coach since the start of the 1980 season. EZ Smith coached from 1980-2008. Padgett coached from 2009-17.
