Teams to Watch
East Rutherford: The Cavaliers will look to their senior backcourt in Osha Makerson (20 ppg) and Brooklyn Henderson (9 ppg) to lead their full-court offensive and defensive pressure schemes to another Southwestern 2A (SW2A) conference title. East Rutherford (23-4 last year) has the experience and talent to also be a dangerous playoff matchup with two guards who can control tempo and take over a game.
R.S. Central: The Hilltoppers return four starters from a team that won 15 games and got to the playoffs last year. This season, senior point guard, USC Upstate commit Jada Logan will look to keep her team in SW2A contention and back to the playoffs.

Osha Makerson, East Rutherford, senior: The reigning, SW2A player of the year can dominate a game, averaging 20 points, eight assists and five steals per game last year. This season, Makerson hopes to make a lot more big plays in big games as the Cavaliers look to repeat as SW2A champions and go deep into the 2A state playoffs (advanced to the 3rd round last year).
Jada Logan, R.S. Central, senior: The Hilltoppers’ guard does everything well averaging 15 points, six rebounds and five assists as a junior.
Brooklyn Henderson, East Rutherford senior: The Cavaliers’ senior shooting guard (9 ppg, 5 rpg) part a major part of a team that can light it up from three-point line.
Can’t Miss Games
R.S. Central at Shelby, Friday, Feb. 1: The Hilltoppers will likely need to win his huge road game to have a chance to claim the SW2A conference title.
East Rutheford at Shelby, Friday, Feb. 8: The Cavaliers will also need this road to repeat as SW2A champions.
East Rutherford at R.S. Central, Friday, Feb. 15: Rutherford County rivals could be playing for the SW2A title on the final day of the regular season.
East Rutherford girls’ basketball coach Larry Ross has 343 wins in his 16 years as a head coach, averaging 21 wins per season.
The Chase girls’ basketball team has only eight wins in the last five years combined and things aren’t getting any easier for first-year coach Chandler Casner with a young team in a brutal, SW2A conference.
