Prep Football

Myers Park (13-1) at Vance (13-1), Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Neither team has reached a N.C. 4AA state final before. Both come into the 4AA Western Regional final hot. Vance has won nine straight games and is averaging 35 points per game. Myers Park has won seven straight and is averaging 37 points per game.

Kings Mountain (12-2) at Charlotte Catholic (13-1), Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Catholic will try to return to the 3A final, which it won last season. This season, the Cougars have perhaps the best defense they have ever had (five shutouts, 6.36 points allowed per game). Kings Mountain has won seven straight games and is averaging 42 points per game.

Indian Trail Porter Ridge (10-4) at East Forsyth (14-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Porter Ridge is enjoying its best playoff run since 2012. East Forsyth is averaging 44 points per game.

Weddington (13-1) at Mount Tabor (10-4), Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Weddington, which has won eight straight, tries to return to the 3AA final for the second time in three years. The Warriors won the 2016 title. Mount Tabor has rebounded from a 1-4 start.

Shelby (11-3) at Lenoir Hibriten (14-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.: Hibriten (14-0) has won 30 straight games and will play Shelby in a rematch of the 2017 N.C. 2AA semifinal. Hibriten won 19-7 last season and will host the Western Regional final for the third straight season.

Prep Basketball

Olympic at Independence, Tuesday, 7:30: A pair of Sweet 16 and league title contenders — Independence in Southwestern 4A, Olympic in the SoMeck 7 — meet.

Concord Cox Mill vs. Fayetteville Trinity Christian, Saturday, 4:30 at Ridge View (S.C.) High: One of the featured games of the annual Bojangles’ Bash features two teams ranked top 10 in the state by MaxPreps.

West Charlotte vs. Norcross (Ga.) at Buford (Ga.) Invitational, Saturday, 4:30 p.m.: The Lions, a 4A state title contender in North Carolina, play a traditional Georgia power.
